089h5-1small.jpg (43019 bytes) 089H5 - Luftwaffe Fallschirmjager helmet. This helmet features a dark field gray semi-rough texture finish. The Luftwaffe eagle shows normal wear but is in overall very good condition. The exterior finish indicates it has not been cleaned. There is one shallow "battle" dent towards the top front center. The liner is secured to the shell with four spanner bolts. The interior indicates a mid-war RB numbered liner size 54 with a 66 shell. The RB number has been darkened. The ventilation holes in the leather and all the stitching is complete and not torn. Separating the liner from the aluminum band are extra thick pads intended to adjust the small liner size to the shell. The shell is stamped ET68 indicating wartime replacement of the liner. The chinstrap is incomplete missing the friction clip and buckle but shows authentic use. Rare piece that will display well. $7,500. More Photos

This helmet features all the characteristics of a full-size, early "cut-out" style Luftwaffe parade dress helmet. The oversized lugs with the early "droop-tail" Luftwaffe eagle and national shield really dress this up. The chinstrap is made of black woven fabric. The 8 tongue liner is made of the same material complete with drawstring. It's amazing that this rare piece has survived the original user and time. Almost just like father's. Rare $600.
