1203FFL1 - Desert uniform ensemble with kepi for a Leutenant Colonel of the 3 REI ( 3RD Regiment Ètrangére Infantry ). The 3rd REI is the most decorated regiment in the French Army. The ensemble here is of the "Beau Geste" period 1920-1935. Included here are his field service kepi with pale desert khaki cover. His matching open collar tunic with midnight blue collar patches with gold bullion wire grenades with his regiment number 3 and double green pipings. The tunic buttons are Legion brass. His rank worn on the lower sleeve on brown wool reflects his prior service in the First World War. His belt is brown leather with a brass buckle. His khaki breeches and brown leather boots are of very high grade. The popular motoring googles (sun tinted) have seen the rubber cushioning virtually melted and disintegrated (a common and continuous problem with this pattern). An extremely rare ensemble from the Legion's romantic period of Captain Prince Aage of Denmark, Captain Marc Volokoff (former Tsarist officer) and American like Alan Seeger (the poet). $2195.
