091usci1 - Ultra-rare enlisted version of the shoulder sleeve insignia for "T" (Target) Force. On July 27, 1944, General Eisenhower issued SHAEF Intelligence Directive 17 that authorized the 6th and 12th Army Groups to establish "T" Forces responsible for identifying and securing German "intelligence assets" as German cities fell under U.S. military control. The 6860 Headquarters Detachment Intelligence Assault Force was established with an allocation of 9 officers and 43 enlisted men on February 9, 1945. "T" Force personnel were responsible for capturing plans for the first jet aircraft engine, Gestapo files and other important documents as they entered the newly occupied cities. Following the collapse of the Third Reich, "T" force personnel conducted operations throughout Germany that would gather large amounts of intelligence pertaining to war crimes, industrial planning and technical information that would be used in the development of the U.S. rocket program. 091usci3 - Rare grouping of U.S Army T/5 Robert Brenneke T/5 assigned to Nuremburg War Crimes Tribunal. Robert Brenneke served as "chief cage warden" and assistant to the officer of the day the Nuremburg Trials. According to the accompanying newspaper article, T/5 Brenneke was the only staff member assigned to the trials to obtain signatures of all 21 top Nazi defendants in addition to other souvenirs including one of Goering's swords. This grouping consists of his ID. Card identifying him as attached to the Internal security Detachment at Nuremburg, his Permanent Pass for admittance to the Hall of Justice, automobile windshield pass, his enameled cigarette case, helmet decals for the Nurmburg War Crimes detachment, a plastic cigarette case with a "War Trials 1945" label on it, DI's (Distinctive Insignia) for the unit, 2 additional passes with Brenneke's name the give him authorized access, a theater made SSI (shoulder sleeve insignia) for the war Crimes Tribunal. In addition to the already listed items there two newspaper articles , one dated December 22, 1946, that detail Brenneke's role, period paper authored by Col. Andrus describing the design of the emblem for the "Office of the Chief of Counsel" we now identify as the War Crimes Tribunal insignia. There is also a period piece that is titled "WARCRIMES TRIALS NUREMBURG GERMANY Nov. 20, 1945" which lists the names and gives details of the defendants. This exceptionally rare offering also includes on 2 CDs an oral history given by T/5 Robert Brenneke and distributed through the U.S.S. Massachusetts Memorial Committee, Inc. Rare.$5,000. 091usci4 - Rare Merrill's Marauders and China Burma India shoulder sleeve insignia (ssi). This assembly of U.S. insignia features the exceptionally rare Merrill's Marauders ssi along with a theater made CBI ssi. In February 1944, 2750 men of Merrill's Marauders entered Burma with the mission of conducting long range operations behind Japanese lines. Fighting with such distinction, all personnel of this combat group had the rare distinction of each soldier being awarded the Bronze Star. Along with the Merrill's Marauders and CBI cloth insignia is a studio portrait of an Army medical doctor, and an assortment of rank and specialty insignia that accompanied the grouping. Rare. $1050. 091usci5 - Officer's War Crimes Tribunal shoulder sleeve insignia. This patch was worn by officers serving on the staff of the War Crimes Tribunal at the Nuremburg Trials, This patch, like all known originals, was locally made and therefore subject to minor variations in the hand-embroidery and stitching. This patch measures approximately 3 ½ inches x 3. inches. The patch is made of blue wool felt with a black rayon border. The "Scales of Justice" central theme is hand-embroidered in gold and silver bullion wire thread. The reverse is covered with manila colored paper. There are stitch holes present that would indicate that this was worn during the period of the Nuremburg Trials. The patch is in overall excellent, worn condition. Very rare. $2250. More Photos |
